The No. 9 ranked Tanager wrestling team went 2-0 at the Sioux Falls Washington Triangular last Thursday. Vermillion defeated Dakota Valley 66-18 and Washington 51-24.

No. 2 in the 106-pound weight division at Class A, freshman Hayden Schroeder won by forfeit over Dakota Valley and Washington.

At 113, #8 eighth-grader Michael Roob won by forfeit over Dakota Valley. Against Washington, M. Roob pinned Riley Williams.

Eighth-grader Connor Peterson (120) pinned Bennett Lukken of Dakota Valley and Favian RivasWells of Washington.

In the 126 division, senior Hunter Lavin was pinned by #3 Jackson Boonstra of Dakota Valley. Lavin won by forfeit over Washington.

No. 6 senior Nick Roob (132) pinned Eston Monical of Dakota Valley. N. Roob won by forfeit over Washington.

At 138, eighth-grader Rollie French pinned Latrell Watson of Dakota Valley and Sawyer Johnson of Washington.

Junior Felix Perez (145) was pinned by Zach Rosenkrans of Dakota Valley and by Blessing Taniah of Washington.

In the 152 weight class, sophomore Caleb Emerson pinned Lake Kistner of Dakota Valley. Against Washington, Emerson fell to Asher Eidem by a 9-14 decision.

No. 7 senior Tyson Hage (160) won by forfeit over Dakota Valley. Hage lost to #6 Kamron McCubbin on Washington via sudden victory, 2-4.

At 170, #4 junior Jack Kratz won by forfeit over Dakota Valley. Kratz pinned Sam Randall of Washington.

Freshman Ethan Kerkhove (182) was pinned by Brodey Ballinger of Dakota Valley and by Bronson Moet of Washington.

At 195, freshman Connor Mattson pinned Isaiah Hoffman of Dakota Valley. Mattson also defeated Myles Yitagesu of Washington 8-4.

Sophomore Roz Baylor, wrestling at 220, pinned Samson Do of Dakota Valley. Against Washington, Baylor was pinned by Abraham Myers.

Wrestling in the 285 division, #5 junior Zack Brady pinned Alex Reinhardt of Dakota Valley and Michael Vroman of Washington.

Vermillion competed in the Region 2 Meet Friday at Brandon Valley. The top four wrestlers in each bracket will compete at the State Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City.
