The Vermillion girls’ soccer team traveled to Garretson last Tuesday and won 1-0. The Tanagers also played away at Tea Area last Thursday. The Tanagers tied the Titans 0-0.
Against Garretson, Vermillion gained control early to score a goal in minute 11. Senior Elaina Taggart sent the ball in for sophomore Megan Brady to finish the shot inside the goal box.
The score remained 1-0 throughout the game as the Tanagers maintained solid possession, allowing two shots by Garretson.
Vermillion was 3-2-3 heading into Thursday night’s showdown. Tea Area was 4-3-2.
The Tanagers played 14 players in the 80 minutes of play. Each team made runs toward the opponents’ end, but neither was able to put the ball in the back of the net as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Vermillion will play their final two games of the regular season at home. The Tanagers will host Sioux Falls Christian Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.
Their final game before postseason play is Thursday against Dakota Valley at 5:45 p.m.
