Vermillion boys basketball competed in the Dak XII/NEC Clash in Madison Saturday. The Tanagers played Redfield and won 62-35.
Vermillion took off to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter. The Tanagers outscored the Pheasants by 20 in the second to pull ahead 44-13 at the half.
In the third, the opponents score 10 to Vermillion’s 13 as the Tanagers remained ahead 57-23 going into the final quarter.
Redfield outscored Vermillion by seven in the fourth, but the Tanagers improved their winning streak to 12-0 with the 62-35 win over the Pheasants.
"We have hung in there the past two weeks as we have played three games both weeks and basically six games in a 12-day span,” said Vermillion boys head coach Jay Drake. “Our guys have worked hard and continue to be consistent on the defensive end of the court to give ourselves a chance every single night."
Senior Dillon Gestring tallied 15 points, four rebounds and two steals. Senior Noah Gilbertson had 12 points and one steal.
Vermillion plays Tuesday against Dakota Valley in a doubleheader at home. The girls’ varsity tips off at 6:30 p.m. The boys follow at 8.
