Ronnie Wilharm

Ronnie Wilharm is pictured teeing off on the par 3 fifth hole at Cattail Crossing. She won both SDGA Junior Tour events in Watertown on June 28 and 29 (10-11 year old girls division). She shot an even par 36 at Prairie Winds Golf Club and then followed it up with a 42 at Cattail Crossing the next day.

The SDGA Junior Tour teed it up at Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron on Wednesday, June 23. Ronnie Wilharm was the only the only golfer from Vermillion. She eagled the par 5 16th hole on her way to a two over par 38. The 10-11 year old girls played the back nine.

The Junior Tour's next stop was the very next day at Brookings Country Club. Again, Wilharm was the lone Vermillion competitor. And her red USD golf shirt didn't go unnoticed by the Jackrabbit faithful, but the sneers and jeers were friendly enough and it was all in good fun. Playing with her old rival Maicy Baker of Orange City, Iowa, Ronnie chipped in for birdie on the 11th hole (the 10-11 year old girls played the back nine again) and added another birdie on the par three 13th.

But Maicy rolled in a birdie of her own on 14 after a fabulous 55 yard bunker shot. After eight holes the two were all tied up. Both hit good drives on 18, but Maicy's approach found a greenside bunker while Ronnie's stopped on the back of green. In the end Ronnie needed three putts to win and she used them all to shoot 39. Maicy was one back with 40. The tour's next stops are back-to-back events in Watertown.
