The Tanager volleyball team hit the road for Lennox last Tuesday. Vermillion defeated the Orioles 3-2.

In the first set, the Tanagers lost 10-25.

Vermillion battled back in the second to win 25-23.

“We have a goal this year to reach the number 22,” said junior Shandie Ludwig. “So, in matches when we reach 22, we have to finish the match, which is what keeps us motivated to win.”

The Tanagers kept their momentum going into the third set. They won 25-23.

Lennox fought back in the fourth. Vermillion lost 17-25 to head into a fifth set.

Despite the set remaining close, the Tanagers won the final one 15-13 to win the match 3-2.

Senior Toria Andre had 15 kills and three blocks against the Orioles. Junior Amber Schulz also had three blocks.

Ludwig tallied 16 digs. Seniors Lexi Saunders and Kennedy Pratt each had 14 assists. Saunders also recorded six kills.

Senior Brooke Assmus had five aces on the night.

The Tanagers will play in Madison on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
