The U18 Blast Softball team had a home doubleheader last Tuesday against the Norfolk Kelly’s of Nebraska. They won both games 10-2 and 7-6.

“We played really well against Norfolk Kelly’s,” said head coach Tagney Walters. “They’re typically a team who is ready to hit and are aggressive batters.”

In the first game of the doubleheader, Blast dominated and won 10-2.

From the circle, Maddie Treiber pitched the first game for Blast and tallied eight strikeouts.

On offense, Jessie Ripperda was 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Brooke Madson went 2-for-3.

In the second game, the Norfolk Kelly’s started strong and scored four runs in the first inning to take a solid lead.

Blast responded with two runs of their own, ending the first down 2-4.

“Starting the game down 4-0, we scored two right away in the bottom of first from hits from Maddie Treiber, a walk from Brooke Madson, and singles both from Elizabeth Parks and Monica Shaw,” said coach Walters.

Norfolk held off Blast until the last inning, scoring two more runs of their own to take a 4-point lead.

In the final inning, Blast scored five to record the win 7-6.

Ripperda was the starting pitcher, and Treiber finished the game for Blast.

Blast’s next game will be Monday in Norfolk, Nebraska, against the Kelly’s at 6 p.m.
