The Tanager cross country team ran at the Region 3A Meet last Thursday in Beresford last Thursday. The top 20 individuals and top 3 teams of the boys’ and girls’ varsity races qualified for state.

The Vermillion boys won their varsity 5-kilometer run. The six Tanagers on the varsity team placed in the top 34, and the fastest four were within the top 8 finishers.

“Winning regions shows that our team is a real contender for the state title,” said senior Brady Martinez. “It’s something we’re proud of as a team and are looking to build upon that success at state.”

Junior Riley Ruhaak won the individual region championship, crossing the finish line at 17:31.75.
