The Tanager cross country team competed in the Dak XII Conference Meet last Thursday in Madison. The Vermillion girls placed fourth as a team, and the boys earned the silver.

Freshman Taeli Barta won the gold in the girls’ varsity 5-kilometer run. Barta won the race in 20:20.88.

Eighth-grader Lydia Anderson placed 15th at 22:34.08. Eighth-grader Mya Halvorson was 33rd at 24:27.15, and freshman Tori Farmer was 35th at 24:34.17.

Seventh-grader Calli Radigan finished at 24:35.69 to place 38th. Seventh-grader Olivia Formisano crossed the finish in 24:58.44 for 41st place.

Senior Jakob Dobney was the top finisher for the Tanagers in the boys’ varsity run. Dobney placed seventh at 18:08.06.

Freshman Joel Dahlhoff was ninth as he crossed the finish in 18:09.94. Senior Riley Ruhaak followed in tenth at 18:14.27.

Sophomore Jack Freeburg placed 18th at 18:58.26. Freshman Henry Anderson finished in 19:58.73 for 30th place, and freshman Jacob Chasing Hawk followed in 20:05.89 for 31st.

The Tanagers competed at regions this Thursday for a spot in the state meet next
