MCCOOK LAKE — Number-one ranked Dakota Valley stuck to their winning ways with a 47-14 dismantling of Vermillion on Friday evening in South Dakota ‘A’ football action.

Dakota Valley was led by Nate Rice with 244 rushing yards and two scores. Sam Chesterman added 60 yards and a score. Quinton Dickey added a 95-yard interception to the house.

Vermillion was led by Connor Saunders, who passed for 216 yards on 23 completions. He connected with Gray Peterson eight times for 93 yards. Jack Kratz also pulled in 45 receiving yards. Mitchell Doherty added 89 yards on the ground and two scores.

"I thought a lot of our younger players grew up that game," said head coach Andy Homan. "We did a lot of nice things on both sides of the ball, just need to play the complete game again."

On defense, Vermillion was led by Kratz and Justin Hall with six tackles each.

Dakota Valley will look to keep their perfect record on the road against West Central, as Vermillion will host Cheyenne-Eagle Butte. Both contests will be on Friday.
