KANSAS CITY, Mo. South Dakota junior midfielder Alexis Mitchell was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Womens All-Region team.

Mitchell, a Lees Summit, Missouri, native, was named to the All-West Region Third Team following a six-goal, five-assist season.

She started all 18 games, registered 28 shots and had three game-winning goals for a Coyotes team that finished the season at 8-9-2.

She earned second-team All-Summit League honors as she tallied three goals and two assists during the eight-game league slate.

Alexis is a workhorse and a leader on and off the field, coach Michael Thomas said. She is very deserving of this honor as a person and a player.

This is the second straight season a Coyote has earned All-Region honors as Taryn LaBree was honored in 2018.
