Tanager gymnastics traveled to Madison Saturday, January 16, for the Linda Collignon Gymnastics Invite. Vermillion placed eighth of 12 teams with 122.7 team points. Madison won the invitational with 136.4 points.
“The Madison Invite is a good opportunity to gage where the teams are at across the state,” said Vermillion head coach Shannon Thomas. “The girls put forth a solid effort, but we feel we have even more to give with a month left.”
Junior Mackenzie Brady placed 14th in the all-around event (31.9). Brady tied for 23rd in the uneven bars (6.85), was 14th in the balance beam (7.95), tied for 20th in the floor exercise (8.575) and placed 15th in the vault (8.525).
Freshman Serena Gapp finished 22nd in the all-around (30.5). Gapp was 13th in bars (7.4), 34th in beam with 7.0, tied for 41st in floor (8.175) and tied for 37th in vault (7.925).
Freshman Tori Farmer placed 24th in the all-around (29.9). Farmer placed 42nd in bars (5.6), tied for seventh in beam (8.25), tied for 56th in floor (7.65) and was 22nd in vault (8.4).
Senior Elaina Taggart was 32nd in the all-around (28.775). Taggart was 28th in bars (6.625), 47th in beam (6.325), placed 46th in floor (8.05) and tied for 45th in vault (7.775).
Sophomore Abby Roob placed 41st in beam (5.95).
Seventh-grader Kelcy Orr tied for 37th in the vault at 7.925.
Seventh-grader Callie Radigan tied for 23rd in bars (6.85).
Sophomore Maya Radigan placed 54th in floor (7.7).
Vermillion kicks off the postseason with the Region 2A Meet on Friday, February 5, in Wagner at 6 p.m.
