Vermillion girls’ tennis hosted a dual this past Thursday against Lennox.
The Tanagers faced good competition as several matches went into a 10-point tie breaker.
Senior Katrina Heles, seventh-grader Emma Jury, and seventh-grader Abby Hanson each captured a win in their flight of singles.
Senior Hope Schladoer and junior Lauren Mandernach won the second flight of doubles.
“I think the girls have far exceeded expectations,” said head coach Kari Jensen. “In fact, I have heard from numerous coaches and parents from other schools how much we have improved from just last year. I think a big part is our summer ‘open courts’ that the girls attended, and I have two amazing volunteer coaches that have brought their knowledge of the game to our practices and have helped our girls improve—Julie Barnett and Rick Rognstad.”
Vermillion will compete this Tuesday in a triangular at Madison, beginning at 9 a.m.
