Several local golfers competed in the South Dakota Golf Association (SDGA) Junior Tournament at the Bluffs Golf Course last Wednesday.


Eleven boys and girls from Vermillion competed against nearly 70 other golfers in four boys’ and girls’ age divisions (11 and under, 12-13, 14-15, and 16-18).


In the 16-18 girls’ division, Alex Carr shot a 97 to finish second. She shot a 51 on the front nine and a 46 on the back nine.


In the largest division of the day, the 14-15 boys, Willis Robertson shot a 90 to place fifth. Carter Mart finished sixth with a 92. Benjamin Burbach was 14th with a 99. Jackson Girard shot 100 to place 16th in the division. Kaleb Preister finished 20th with a 122.


In the 12-13 girls’ division, Stephanie Carr placed second with a 118. She shot a 59 on the front and back nine.


Karson Preister earned fifth in the boys’ 12-13 division. He shot a 48 for the day on the back nine.


Ronnie Wilharm won the 11 and under girls’ division with a 53 on the front nine of the Bluffs.


For the 11 and under boys, Rylan Moran finished eighth with a 41 on the front nine. Nolan Nygren shot a 58 to place 12th.
