The Vermillion Tanagers Gymnastics team went to Madison to face off in a dual this past Tuesday, Jan. 8.
The Tanagers fell to the Madison Bulldogs with a combined score of 120.85 to the Bulldogs’ 136.1. Madison swept the events as a team and had gymnasts placing top three in the all-around.
For the Bulldogs, Morgan Hansen won the all-around with 33.85. She also placed first in the floor excercise (9.5). Olivia Flemming placed second in the all-around (33.7), first in the bars (8.55), and second in the vault (8.6). Isabel Gors placed third in the all-around (32.45) and placed second in the floor exercise (9.35). Kylie Krusemark won the vault with 9.0.
Vermillion Freshman Mackenzie Brady was the top placer for Vermillion at third in the all-around with a total score of 32.05. Brady also placed first in the beam (8.7), tied for sixth in the vault (8.0), tied for seventh in the floor (8.15), and also tied for seventh in the bars (7.2).
Vermillion’s Serena Gapp finished seventh in the all-around (29.65) with Elaina Taggart (29.15), Peyton Larson (28.5), and Tori Farmer (28.05) following.
The Tanagers will return to Madison for the Invitational this Saturday beginning at noon. Vermillion will return home next Tuesday to host Yankton at 6 p.m. The meet will take place in the High School Auxiliary Gym as the wrestlers also compete at home in the Main Gym at 5:30 p.m.
